Director of the National Distribution Company of the Tehran Distribution Zone, in an interview with Mashaal Magazine’s correspondent, described how the plan was implemented and the importance of this issue and its implementation in Tehran metropolis.
According to the Public Relations Department of the National Distribution Company of the Tehran Distribution Zone, the branding, a chain building project, is a topic which aims to provide quality services combined with the creation of competition on the explicit order of the oil minister. The brand, or the concept of building chain stations, has now been operational in five provinces, including Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd, Qom and Bushehr.
Hence, the correspondent of Mashhal’s weekly in an interview with Mr. Karami, director of the Tehran area, asked her about how the plan was implemented, as follows:
What is your definition of the brand?
A brand means a company symbol for a particular product or specific product. A brand can be defined as a philosophy or symbol to compete in the supply of customer-oriented and customer-oriented services, and in the fueling field, this definition can be provided in the form of qualitative, desirable, and secure customer service. Currently, the fuel supply location in the country is traditionally managed, and the goal of branding is to distance itself from this traditional approach and reach the key point of customer orientation.
What is the traditional method?
In this method, which is rooted in many years, all activities, including fuel supply, transportation and distribution, are defined in the sovereignty, and the government is directly responsible for all these issues. While this method is not dynamic, competition is not there because there is no competitor. Therefore, it is necessary to move to the other side of the field in order to compete and offer better quality and service. This can happen with the creation of brand name chain companies. Currently, there are nearly 3,600 petroleum supply stations (gasoline and petrol) and 2,400 CNG supply stations in the country. In other words, they carry 6,000 car fueling stations, meaning that the NIOPDC has 6,000 contracts with fuel station’s owner.
When did the branding project begin seriously?
The move towards the formation of fuel chain or branding companies has been initiated by the Minister of Oil and the announcement of the headquarters of the National Broadcasting Company and its subsidiaries since August 2015, and subsequently stopped the construction of fuel stations in its traditional way (contracts with natural persons). Became The announcement explicitly states that new sites should be branded. Accordingly, it was intended that the construction of new petrol stations has be done in the form of chain brands.
What goals have been taken into creating chain of fuel stations?
As mentioned earlier, 6 thousand stations such as CNG and petroleum products (gasoline and diesel) with 6 thousand contracts throughout the country that each of them can make tens of problem in petrol distribution . But with the construction of fuel supply chains, supply, transportation and distribution of fuel, which is now under supervision NIOPDC, consequently there will be no problem. Another goal is to reduce the waiting time for refueling vehicles at fuel stations. Currently, 17,500,000 gasoline-diesel vehicles travel around the country considering 3,600 liquid fuel supply stations (gasoline and diesel fuel) refueling waiting time is between 10 and 20 minutes. While, according to international time standards, refueling time should be five minutes.
